During regular office hours, (Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm), phone calls are answered by Niswander Eye Center staff. If you would like to schedule an appointment, refill your medication or have any questions regarding your eye health or eye care, please call during regular business hours.
In an emergency, call us anytime. If the office is closed, you will reach our answering service, who will contact the physician-on-call. Please do not call during these times to ask non-emergent questions, or to refill medication.
Niswander Eye Center participates with major health insurance plans including but not limited to: Medicare, Independent Health, Univera, Univera Senior Choice, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Senior Blue, Community Blue, Empire Plan and GHI. You may contact your individual carrier to see if our physicians participate with your particular plan.
Insurance companies have regulations that must be met when filing a claim. It is important to understand your policy. Our staff will be happy to assist you.
Our fees are comparable to those in the community. It is our policy to request your co-pay and payment for services not covered by insurance at the time of your visit.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We also accept CareCredit® for any purchases more than $300.00.
We're pleased to offer our patients the CareCredit® card, North America's leading patient payment program. CareCredit lets you begin your procedure immediately - then pay for it over time with low monthly payments that fit easily into your monthly budget. Now you don't have to save up for years to finally get the vision you've always wanted.
CareCredit cards work just like a regular credit card, but are exclusive for healthcare services. CareCredit offers low monthly payment plans for healthcare procedures not commonly covered by insurance, including multifocal implants.

Sometimes it is necessary to dilate the eyes for a comprehensive eye exam. A driver is recommended for patients having their eyes dilated. Plan on bringing a pair of sunglasses, because your eyes will be sensitive to light if they are dilated. Please ask the receptionist for disposable sunglasses in the event you don't bring yours.
A parent or guardian must accompany patients under the age of 18, unless written authorization is received in our office. You may fax the Authorization to Examine a Child form, found on this page to the office at 716.634.3174.
